Richard Gere is being sued by three different people in India for kissing Bollywood star, Shilpa Shetty on the cheek in public at an AIDS benefit. That’s it. Kissing. He didn’t relentlessly penetrate her against her will in public, he simply hugged and kissed her. And people in India freaked out and burnt pictures of him. The interesting thing about highly strung religious conservatives who waste public funding by clogging up the courts with inane legal proceedings like this is that you KNOW the people involved are merely capitalist opportunists looking for some cheap publicity. This is the equivalent of a gold digging skank staking a claim for a geriatric billionaire’s fortune despite having no actual basis. Gere and Shetty provide the media viability and, under the guise of moral outrage, the conservatives collect. Of course Gere and Shetty aren’t exactly going to lose out. What’s the bet Shetty shows up in Hollywood 10 pounds thinner in three weeks and then later in the dramatic reconstruction of the Virginia Tech massacre? [source]
