Britney Spears is out of hospital and she’s swanning about LA again with a swarm of cars and helicopters following her and TMZ reports that her parents are upset about it. They released a statement to Anderson Cooper on CNN which read:

"As parents of an adult child in the throws (sic) of a mental health crisis, we were extremely disappointed this morning to learn that over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist, our daughter Britney was released from the hospital that could best care for her and keep her safe. We are deeply concerned about our daughter's safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk. There are conservatorship orders in place created to protect our daughter that are being blatantly disregarded. We ask only that the court's orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted."

The part of this that threw me was actually the Anderson Cooper part. I mean, sure he’s on CNN and it would get the word out but it just seems like a really weird choice. I personally, would have gone to Anderson Cooper, yes, but that’s because it would be a way for me to get his e mail address and to finally have him acknowledge that I exist and for him to maybe ask me out. OR vice versa. Either way is ok.

While Brit’s parents are at it, why didn’t they just go to Wolf Blitzer or Maureen Dowd? Actually, Keith Olbermann would have been a good choice seeing as he’s more or less what Anderson Cooper was meant to be in the first place. With Anderson all you get is a charming wink and a stumbled-over yet quickly spoken set of questions with a serious furrowed brow all wrapped in a charming suit. Plus, I saw him at a party the other night and he has been working out. With Olbermann you get emotion, rage, poetics and fundamentally higher ratings.
Look, this whole thing was just an excuse for me to write about Anderson Cooper. And ultimately, that’s pretty appalling seeing as Britney’s clearly on the verge of a catastrophe. I’m appalled at me. [source]
