Here’s some preview stuff for Tom Cruise’s new movie, “Valkyrie” which he was filming in Germany over the past few months; remember when the guy farted at the concentration camp and Cruise got angry and also all the protests about him even being in Germany because the Germans think Scientology is a cult. Yeah, all that was happening when he was filming this.

So, he plays Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg who attempted to kill Hitler.

What I don’t get is why Tom Cruise can’t manage an accent. He did an Irish one in Far and Away and yet here, in a film supposedly shot in Germany everyone is English and then there’s Cruise who is American.

Plus, I saw Lions for Lambs last night and it’s a really intense film despite being singular in its focus and Cruise more or less plays the same character he always does; the boyish energy in a man’s body, negotiating the ups and downs of attempting to fit into a system. Or maybe he’s not just rehashing but I couldn’t shake the lunacy surrounding his actual personality enough to believe him. Even next to an inevitably astonishing Meryl Streep.

Here’s Lions for Lambs:
